At the annual Christmas Dinner Show (Julbord med underhållning) at Skogshem & Wijk on the northern half of Lidingö, I got the opportunity to shoot some pictures of the very talented performers in Made in Sweden - Show.
The food was exquisite and albeit the pandemic set a limit to the number of people in the audience, S&W | Meetings Events are safety certified and thus made sure that no one was at risk, the energy in the room was high! Made in Sweden - Show performed covers of many of the most popular tunes from the ’80s and ’90s and some early 2000’s - that everyone knows the lyrics to, so everybody was singing and dancing!

As a photographer, an event like this presents a challenge - rapid movements, limited light, and having to shoot over the heads of the audience. Yet, with the right equipment and know-how, it’s perfectly doable and easier, as I hope the photos below show. If you find yourself with a similar opportunity, my best tips would be:
Don’t be afraid of using manual mode on your camera
Expose for the highlights, in order to reduce ISO-noise
Preferably, don’t use less than 1/250th of a second shutter speed
Use f/2.8 or faster lenses if you have them
Do NOT use flash, unless you work with studio flashes and modifiers.
Grab the opportunity and Good Luck! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
